NSW Celebrates 50 years of Trade Day

By Anita Campbell – CEO Nursery & Garden Industry NSW & ACT (NGINA)

The June NGINA Trade Day represented a huge milestone in our nearly 50-year history of Trade Day.

On the third Wednesday of each month, NGINA holds a trade-only plant market that connects growers and allied suppliers with buyers from across NSW and the ACT. Trade Day started in 1972 as a “market day” at Castle Hill. It then moved to Rouse Hill and has found its most recent home at the Hawkesbury Showground.

Our exhibitors stock a diverse range of plants from every climate and display an impressive array of ancillary products and services. Trade Day has also provided a fabulous networking opportunity, allowing members to cross paths with industry peers and stay in touch with what is happening in the industry. On Wednesday 15 June we held our first Trade Day in a new facility at the Hawkesbury Showground. The massive shed can accommodate all our exhibitors indoors on a hard concrete surface. Hundreds of buyers and sellers braved the freezing temperatures to christen the new facility. At August Trade Day we will also be celebrating 50 years of Trade Day, so we are busy planning the birthday party. We urge everyone to come out in August to check out the new facility and help us celebrate.
