A spectacular feature plant

Characteristics: A small-medium spreading shrub 1.5m x 3m. The flowers are orange and pink, individuals 54mm; conflorescence 114mm from August to June. It is distinguished from G. bipinnatifida by its deeply, twice-divided fine foliage and its larger spreading habit, and from G. batracheoides by its slightly coarse leaves and larger flowers.

Origin: A manipulated cross between Grevillea bipinnatifida (Chittering Valley) (female parent) with Grevillea batracheoides (male parent).

Cultural Notes: A very ornamental medium shrub that is suitable for well-drained soils. It performs best in a sunny site but will also tolerate some shade. Grevillea ‘Katydid’ is frost resistant to -6°C. It responds well to pruning and can be pruned very heavily every few years if needed.

Grevillea ‘Katydid’  is one of the longest flowering of all grevilleas, with massed flowering normally in excess of nine months per year. It is extremely popular with some growers as a large grafted standard due to its spectacular long flowering period.

Propagation: Cuttings from semi-firm new growth.

Uses: As part of a mass planting, in a mixed shrubbery, or as a spectacular feature plant. Attracts nectar feeding birds.
