With thanks and farewell

I am writing to let you know that Hort Journal Australia will cease publication after the June 2026 issue.

This has not been an easy decision. A combination of factors has made it increasingly difficult to continue. In particular, the late effects of polio are now significantly affecting my ability to travel, attend industry events, and maintain the connections that have always been so important to the magazine. At the same time, advertising revenue has not recovered to pre-COVID levels, and ongoing increases in postage and printing costs have added further pressure.

I sincerely thank all the contributors to Hort Journal Australia. Your support, expertise and willingness to share your knowledge have played an essential role in shaping the publication and the community around it.

I would also like to thank all the advertisers and subscribers who have supported the magazine over the years. I have made many wonderful friends who I hope will remain so.

Finally, I must thank the following people for being the backbone of Hort Journal Australia and for bearing with me through many challenges along the way: Karen Smith, Gabrielle Stannus, John Fitzsimmons, Janet Hodgkiss, Sarah Hecimovic and Paul Cogger. Thank you for your great support and professionalism.

It has been a privilege!!
